Yukon NDP statement on National MMIWG2S Awareness Day
May 9, 2023
The Yukon NDP issued the following statement on Tuesday, May 9, in recognition of this year’s National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and two-spirit people:
“Today on Red Dress Day, and every day, we honour and remember the missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, two-spirit, and gender-diverse people in Canada.
Indigenous women, girls and two-spirit people deserve to be safe, loved and live in dignity. We will always fight for justice for survivors and for those who did not come home.
We continue the fight for justice and accountability for the thousands of women, girls and two-spirit people who have been taken away and continue to be taken away too soon every year.
Our hearts are with our community members and families that are grieving the loss of mothers, sisters, daughters, aunties, cousins, and loved ones.”
