Yukon NDP calls on Liberal government to respond to Eagle Mine failure

WHITEHORSE, YT – The Yukon NDP is calling on the Yukon Liberals to provide the public with an
update on the Eagle Mine disaster that occurred this week.

Yukon NDP Leader Kate White says “Yukoners deserve answers – the silence from the
government is unacceptable.

Experts are already weighing in, expressing significant concerns about the impacts this failure
might have on fish, wildlife and the environment – not to mention the possibility of it
contaminating drinking water.

We recognize there is a lot of work to be done, but information needs to be provided sooner
rather than later. Yukoners are worried, and rightfully so – they need to hear from their
government”
