MLA for Takhini

Kate is the Yukon NDP leader and the MLA for Takhini. She services as the critic for Finance, Executive Council Office, Health and Social Services, and the Yukon Workers’ Safety and Compensation Board.

You can count on Kate to make healthcare better and lower costs for you. 

Kate is a champion for Yukoners who has made life better for countless people in the territory. 

She was first elected in 2011 and was elected Leader of the Yukon NDP in 2019. 

As an MLA and as the Leader of the Yukon NDP, Kate has a record of making healthcare better and lowering costs for people. She was the force behind Canada’s first public dental care program, the Yukon Dental Program, which covers dental care for thousands of people who need it. Her leadership won Yukoners a new public walk-in clinic, an increase to the minimum wage, worker and renter protections, and so much more. 

A born and raised Yukoner, Kate studied and worked here and around the world. Before being elected, she worked as a journeyperson and baker and owned a small business here at home.
