MLA for Whitehorse Centre Lane Tredger announces re-election bid at Yukon NDP campaign kick-off
September 11, 2025

Territory of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and Ta’an Kwäch’än Council, Whitehorse, Yukon — Lane Tredger, MLA for Whitehorse Centre, announced they are seeking re-election to a room of over 100 supporters and fellow candidates at the Yukon NDP’s campaign kick-off.
“In downtown and in every community I’ve door-knocked in, Yukoners are excited to elect a Yukon NDP government,” said Tredger. “People want a government that will make healthcare better and take off the pressure of the rising cost of living – that’s exactly what our Yukon NDP team will do. In four years as an MLA, we’ve secured big wins for Yukoners, including a public dental program, more protections for workers and renters, and a new law that makes it easier for doctors to practice in the Yukon.”
Tredger was first elected in 2021, receiving 47% of the popular vote in Whitehorse Centre.
In their four years as an MLA, they won protections for workers and renters to lower costs for Yukoners, including an increase to the minimum wage, creating 5 new paid sick days for workers and modernizing the Residential Landlord Tenant Act.
As energy critic, they fought to protect Yukoners from rate increases, appearing as an intervenor at the Utility Board hearings when ATCO Electric Yukon requested rate increases despite earning record profits. Neither the Yukon Party nor the Liberals showed up as intervenors.
With downtown neighbours and families across Whitehorse, Tredger led the fight for a downtown elementary school. In their first year as an MLA, Tredger passed a new law creating safer schools for 2SLGBTQIA+ students.
Tredger is a lifelong Yukoner. Since returning to the Yukon after graduating from Dalhousie University and McGill University, they have worked as the Executive Director of a local non-profit and as a speech language pathologist supporting young children and their families.
“When working with Yukon families, I heard from so many Yukoners who desperately need change,” Tredger added. “Healthcare is the reason I ran in 2021, and it’s why I’m running today. People across the territory want and need better healthcare, with Kate and our Yukon NDP team, we’ll deliver it.”
“Lane is an incredible force, and I am honoured to have them running again with our team,” said Leader of the Yukon NDP Kate White. “It’s fitting to make this announcement in front of so many supporters, from downtown and across the territory. In every part of the Yukon, our Yukon NDP team has built incredible momentum, with our strong team of candidates and 100% of our incumbents running again. We’re firing on all cylinders, and we’re ready to win this fall.”
