Kate commits to capping delivery service fees

To stop large delivery companies like Skip the Dishes and DoorDash from taking big chunks of money from local businesses and workers, the Yukon NDP will cap the fees these corporations can charge.

Having run a local shop, Kate White knows the challenges small businesses face – and small businesses shouldn’t get driven to the brink by large delivery services. It’s a bad deal for small businesses and it’s a bad deal for drivers. At the end of the day, it means Yukoners – business owners and workers – take home less money. That’s why the NDP is committed to protecting them from predatory fees.

The Yukon NDP are also going to give workers a fairer deal by making sure that all drivers for delivery or ride share companies are employees not contractors. That way, they can get the wages and benefits they have earned.

And, on top of that, to further support local small business, they plan to build on the work the Whitehorse Chamber of Commerce did and create a ‘Buy Local’ website that’s easy to use, searchable and up-to-date. This promotion will help people find what they are looking for and help local businesses at the same time.
