Brent McDonald

MLA for Klondike

Brent McDonald is the Yukon NDP MLA for Klondike. He serves as the Yukon NDP critic for Community Services, Highways and Public Works, Electoral Reform and Youth Issues.

Brent has lived in Dawson for more than 30 years. He previously worked as a Yukon Energy plant operator and is a longtime education advocate. A Red Seal-certified electrician and general contractor, he has also worked for the City of Dawson’s public works and the Yukon Government’s highways department.

Deeply rooted in his community, Brent has spent decades working to make life better for families and young people. As the former President of the Board of Little Blue Daycare, he worked with childcare workers and parents to lower costs – paving the way for the Yukon’s universal childcare program. For nearly six years, Brent has served as Co-Chair of Robert Service School Council, as well as vice-chair of the Association of Yukon School Councils, Boards and Committees, and as a member of the Dawson City Recreation Board, where he is an advisor for the new recreation centre.

A familiar face behind the scenes at community events like the Percy DeWolfe Memorial Mail Race, Brent is committed to strengthening the Klondike through affordable childcare, quality education, and strong public services.
